CBYFP in Capiz

BY Mardave Grace Gochuico

JAMINDAN Capiz- Joining the joint young people and young teens summer camp at Camp Peralta in Jamindan, Capiz was a new and fun experience to me. It was my first summer camp outside the church and I never regretted joining. I was blessed at the lessons learned and enjoyed the five-day camp.

Our first day was very tiring. We tried to catch the first trip to Iloilo so that we won’t be late. Then, rode a bus to Jamindan. I was amazed by the number of campers there. There were at least      delegates coming from    church all around the Philippines. I was blessed by the new friends met, get to know with and mingle. I also bonded with my manangs (sisters) and manongs (brothers) well and enjoyed the closeness to nature (especially during the trek). I was also blessed upon hearing the testimonies of the campers, hearing God’s word, and during the praise and worship. The campers did not mind the remoteness of the area, the distant from the session hall from the camping ground nor the heat of the sun or coldness as long as they can worship the Lord as one. I can see in everyone’s faces the eagerness to know God better, to fellowship with Christians, and praise God.

It was truly a fun experience. I would always remember the incredible camp experienced this summer. My heart would always keep hold of the great memories we all shared together as one for the glory of God.

Young Teens Camp: Evolution 2002

BY FRANCES DANIELLE CONG

GUINTUBDAN, Bago City- A three-day and two-night young teens summer camp was held in Rafael Salas Natural Park, Guintubdan, Bago City, Negros Occidental, May 9-11, 2002.

Even for only short time being with the group God revealed numerous blessings. Yes, "God is good- everything happen for a reason."

The camp was themed, "Camp Evolution", an Italian word means evoluzione, which is English language means growth.  It aims to instill to each camper the responsibility of growing as a Christian.

Not just only numerous campers, He also blessed us with competent, honorable and skilled camp directors, counselors as well as guest speaker.

The fresh and greeny campsite also blessed the campers feeling the presence of God. He showed us great provisions through abundant food.

The big group and small group session as well devotionals gave us lots of insight and challenge us to grow as mature Christians. The campers enjoyed the activities, such as the banquet night and team challenges.  The team challenges (guro, ameba, relay, etc...) helped build our unity and cooperation as a group.

Indeed, it was a good experience. The young teens had a lot more to learn and experience... happiness, trials and temptations, etc,... but with the help of the Holy Spirit we can overcome all of these. "Trials are not reasons to give up but challenges to improve ourselves. Deficiencies  are not excuses to back out but inspiration to move out." I pray that anyone whose reading this will blessed as I am... To God be the glory!

It was hot, crowded and full of energy. We started the reunion through praise and worship. Games and awarding were also part of the program. The four surviovrs were Tom Mobo, Penel Savaris, Timojin Samido and Denel Parcon. And the sole survivor is Denel.
